#10 Overseas Highway

Imagine yourself driving over bridge after bridge, further from the US mainland and into the ocean. Is it possible? Check out this first route on our list that follows US-1 through The Florida Keys for over 100 miles – the Overseas Highway. It was first constructed in 1928, but it was rebuilt again in 1980. It now connects Key Largo all the way down to laid-back Key West. Drivers may cruise over the Seven Mile Bridge, which is known to be one of the longest bridges in the world. Visitors will experience spectacular scenery along the drive and should not miss a stop in Islamorada, the sportfishing capital of the world, and Key West, a favorite hangout of Ernest Hemmingway, the home of Fantasy Fest, and the Southernmost Point in the United States. What a beautiful voyage to start off our road trip journey!

#9 Route 12

Be mesmerized by this next top road with its red rock majestic display that curves in between Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon National Parks, Route 12. Before heading to this route, be sure you have the determination and patience as this 124 mile journey has very few entry points so you will want a navigation app to be sure to witness the breathtaking steep sandstone canyons and bluffs of purple sage. Explorers or adventurers may also step close to the cliff hanging ridgeline road, which is the Hogback. Every road tripper should not miss stopping by the Kiva KoffeeHouse in Escalante, wherein they can sip some coffee, indulge in art, and enjoy the scenic view of Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument.

#8 Anchorage to Valdez

Delight your eyes as you hit the road with the incredible sites in Alaska. This short but sweet 300-mile drive connecting the Glenn and Richardson highways will bring you to another level of paradise. The Anchorage to Valdez road delivers gleaming glaciers and mountain ranges that showcase sky-high peaks. It offers the ultimate seven-hour trek where explorers can discover the natural wonders of the Last Frontier and sneak in to the blissful Spirit Houses of Eklutna Village and Matanuska Glacier Scenic Turnout. If you’re seeking an easy hike, then have a walk along Thunderbird Falls, which is famous for being a family-friendly excursion leading toward a gorgeous 200-foot waterfall. #7 Olympic Peninsula Loop

Another wanderlust site found on the West Coast surrounds Washington’s Olympic National Park. The Olympic Peninsula Loop is a 330-mile drive that’s unique for its astounding diversity. From its Boulder-speckled Pacific Coastlines, lush green temperate rainforests, and the Cascade Range are all possible to visit within a single day of travel! Savor local oysters and fresh clams along the way, and don’t miss a stop at Sol Duc Hot Springs for a rejuvenating soak in some natural mineral springs. What a rewarding place to relax after a long beautiful drive!

#6 Santa Fe Loop

Exercise your cowboy skills and ready your matching outfit as you set a course to the Santa Fe Loop that links the valleys of the Rio Grande and Sangre de Cristo Mountains in New Mexico. A pure American style road adventure that seems straight out of a classic Western movie, you can stroll over the desert landscape and Ojo Caliente’s pueblo communities. This kind of drive will be remembered as a once in a lifetime experience. As a quick add-on to your journey, have a look at the Town of Taos, situated in northern New Mexico’s High Desert. This tourist spot is too exceptional to pass up, as it proudly exhibits several incredible museums such as the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House, and offers incredible scenic river rafting trips down the Rio Grande!

#5 Going-to-the-Sun Road

Built for promoting tourism and engaging people to have a tour at America’s National Parks, this precious pathway has been successfully achieving its goals since 1932. The Going-to-the-Sun Road may sound like you are driving off to heaven, but it will make you witness some striking beauty that you don’t want to miss. The 50-mile road carves along Montana’s Glacier National Park, then shoots through the Rockies all the way up to the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. Just be sure to use extra caution facing the blind curves and dramatic cliffs, especially during winter season, as the snow banks can go up to 80 feet. During the Summertime, you can experience lush scenic beauty at Logan Pass. Elevated over 6,646 feet, you’ll feel tranquility looking over the blanket of wildflower meadows overlooking the mountains, and soothe yourself in a peaceful world.

#4 Trail Ridge Road

Brace yourself as you climb the highest paved road in the United States. It soars up for over 12, 183 feet along Rocky Mountain National Park. This follows the route over the Continental Divide used by Native Americans for many years, where travelers could meet up with elk, deer, and bighorn sheep above the treeline in the sensational tundra. While on the road, don’t forget to have a stopover at the Victorian splendor of the Stanley Hotel, and feel the luxury of the incredible scenery around.
